‎Japan has debunked a Wall Street Journal report alleging the U.S President Donald Trump told Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi not to exacerbate the China about Taiwan tension. The report came after Takaichi suggested Japan could respond militarily if China attacked Taiwan, a statement that Beijing authorities considered infuriating and provocative.

‎Japan’s top spokesperson Minoru Kihara said the claim was false, stating Trump gave no such warning. Takaichi also said her conversation with Trump focused on U.S and Japan relations and his earlier interaction with China’s President Xi Jinping.

‎China has demanded Japan withdraw Takaichi remarks and warned its citizens about travelling to Japan, but Japan denied any targeting against Chinese nationals. China insists her comments were “seriously erroneous” and says it will not accept them.
